Focus Group

This is the recording of my focus group and I added the images over the top of the recording, to make it clearer what it was they were talking about. The images consist of screen stills of the music video (such as the cross dissolve effect), cropped images of the digipak (such as the note from the band) and repeating images of my focus group, the advert and the digipak. I made the adjustments my focus group suggested, I actually did whilst they were all in the room so that they could voice their opinion on whether I had met the suggested improvement correctly. I feel the focus group was very successful because it gave me an opinion from those who do not study media, therefore they see my work in a different way then the piers of my media class did.

Typography

The watermark saying 'Animoto Trial' is there because I am using the free trial version of Animoto rather than paying to have full access.
These are the print screens on how I produced the album and band name for my digipak and advert. I started by experimenting with the different fonts you are able to get within Photoshop, I picked the ones I liked the most and ones I thought suited the band name. I chose to work with the font 'Pristina' because it is conventional of most alternative punk/rock bands to use a font which has a decorative element. I also felt it suited the masking tape idea the best. I got the image of the masking tape pieces off of Google and I cropped it down to two pieces that I liked and thought suited the purpose best. I picked the piece that had the crumple in it for the band name because I think it gives it more of a creative flare and conveys that the band isn't a part of the popular music culture, as popular music is often aimed to be 'straight edged' whereas the crumples convey that the band have their own flare. I used the clone stamp in Photoshop to change where the edge of the tape was, as cropping it would give it a straight edge and leave it looking a little bit out of place, I didn't need to do this for the album name piece. Apart from the clone stamp, the same process was used for both the band name and album name,

Digipak and Advert Analyses

Effects

First Edit

This is the first edit of my music video. I have to add opening credits to display the song and band name, however this may be difficult to do as the lyrics start 1 second into the song. It would be going against the conventions if I was to display the song name at the end of the song and video. I plan to experiment a little more with effects and possibly change some of the shots. The black and white is used to represent it has already happened and I have got my male model, Josh in two different outfits to portray that he is thinking about the past and how things used to be (he is wearing a coat on the these shots)
